Northern Wasatch Parade of Homes Promises Something For All
How can a parade be a parade when the people move, but the parade entries don't?
When the parade is homes - in this case new homes. And, in this case, it's the Northern Wasatch Home Builders Association Parade of Homes.
The show opens June 7 and runs through June 16.
This year there will be 25 homes that will be open to visitors. Those homes will range in price from around $150,000 to more than $1 million.
The fixed-site location this year is the Mountain Vistas subdivision at 1515 W. 200 North in Kaysville.
There will be six homes at the fixed site. The other 19 homes are scattered from North Salt Lake to Ogden.
Tickets for this year's show will be available at Smith's stores from Bountiful to North Ogden, Bowman's Market in Kaysville, and at all parade homes.
Tickets will be $7 each. Parade hours are Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call the Parade of Homes hotline at 801-475-SHOW.
Parade visitors will see the latest in architectural design, home products, landscaping and decorating. First-time, as well as seasoned home buyers will want to discover the new and exciting ideas that this year's show has to offer.
At the time individuals buy a ticket, they will be given an official Parade of Homes program that will give a description of the home, as well as the addresses. A ticket will be necessary for each individual walking into the homes.
Here are some of the facts about this year's show:
- The most expensive home carries a price tag of more than $1 million.
- The largest home comes with total square footage of 7,120. There are two more homes with more
than 6,000 square feet and several more with more than 5,000.
- One home has a stained-glass wall.
- One home was designed to flow in such a way that it dead ends in only one location.
- One home used bamboo flooring.
- One home has a playhouse with a slide leading down into one of the children's bedrooms.
- One home was built with a lot of donated materials and donated time in order to give one needy family an opportunity at homeownership.
- More than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend this year's show.
Visitors will notice a number of unique things when visiting some of the homes.
Covered porches, patios and decks are also found on many of this year's homes.
The larger master suites and larger master baths are two more things that seems to be a growing trend.
As with many homes today, large windows are popular in order to capture the available views of the
surrounding mountains and to let in a lot of natural light.
Solid-surface countertops are found in almost ever home this year. Granite is probably the most popular material.
With interest rates at an all-time low, now is a perfect time to look at buying a home or moving up into a larger home. Or, in the case of empty nesters, moving down into a smaller home.
